Mikao Usui developed Reiki in the early 1900s deriving the term from the Japanese words rei, meaning “universal” and ki which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Now Reiki is used all over the world including in hospitals and hospices to complement other forms of health treatments.
Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-invasive form of an energy-based healing technique that promotes relaxation and reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. The practitioner uses their hands to deliver energy to the body which helps to remove energy blockages that can impede inner balance physically, emotionally and mentally.
Reiki is an effective stress reduction treatment for the workplace. It can be conducted at the person’s desk or simply requires a room with a chair for a more personal experience. The recipient simply relaxes in a chair while the practitioners hands are gently placed around their head and shoulders either on or off the body depending of the comfort level of the recipient. From there the innate intelligence of the energy goes to whatever areas of the body that need clearing, healing and restoration.
Treatments typically can last anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes depending on your chosen schedule and are a welcomed relaxing break for staff.
